The Internet Au Stars Simon Leung and Nikhil Parekh have put on an amazing line up for the Brisbane event. With a tight knit audience and genuine feel guest speakers include Glenn Dietzel and David Cavanagh. Still one day to go, very much looking forward to it.

Brett McFall has rocked the room in the morning session of the DreamLife Internet Marketing Seminar in Melbourne today September 12, 2009.
The focus of Brett’s presentation was about marketing and positioning to stand out from the crowd. He presented a five step system to position you as a premium product in your market.
Step1 – “Find The One Thing That Makes You King”
Find your unique selling proposition and test it to make sure that it causes people to ‘want to buy’. Not necessarily true but powerful. For example M&Ms ‘melts in your mouth not in your hand’ or Energizer batteries ‘keep going and going…’
Step2 – “Make Doing Business With You Irresistible”
You can sell a bottle of water for $10,000… if you promise to throw in a $100,000 bonus.
Step3 – “Let your visitors show you the way”
Split test
Step4 – “Move The Free Line”
aka Eban Pagan – google for his video playlist of GetAltitude
Step5 – “Build A Database”
Using a squeeze page with PPC traffic to build a list. Use eZine Articles to generate 2 emails a week of information on your niche then follow up with once a week offer for a ClickBank product.
“Money is always sexy”

The first day of DreamLife in Melbourne is finished and I’m exhausted. It was a great experience to get to Melbourne just at the right time to bump in to some of the speakers and my friends.
There are about 232 attendees at the event. The average age is estimated at 45 with a majority male. The age would be skewed higher for the female contingent which makes up only 35% of total attendees.
The speaker that I have seen in Auckland has made an essentially identical presentation to the previous presentation in Auckland.
It is suspicious that his product would not be released to the general market and only to those at seminars. He says this is because he’s gathering testimonials however it may be that he doesn’t want to submit his products to wide scrutiny.
Conversely it may be that the product is sensitive to overuse and he wants to limit the use of the product so as to maintain its efficiency for his own uses. It begs the question however that if the product is so successful why would he be selling it at all.
It is a common factor in all of the presentations I have witnessed so far except the most basic of trainings. With the possible exception of more sophisticated CPA and affiliate strategies. The amount of competition created by the sheer numbers that buy in to these products online make the effectiveness of their strategy debatable.
It is impossible to stand out from the crowd if you are a cookie cutter of a program that has been widely distributed. However there are fundamentals that are tested and consistent across models. These are the most important in my humble opinion.

Marketing on the Internet is the use of the Internet to communicate the ability to purchase products or services that they desire. Sounds simple right? Well maybe. The art of marketing online is a new one and there is much debate throughout the industry around the best practices in Internet Marketing.
There are a large number of people new to marketing on the internet that will simply be regurgitating what they heard on a course they bought, or something they read, modified by their perceptions and not thoroughly tested. On the other hand there are people out there that have been around for long enough and have been doing more than just teaching Internet Marketing, they have been actually practicing what they preach and have real world experience. These teachers do so to help, to research their market and because they enjoy it, besides the fact it is great promotion for them and lucrative as well.
I have spent a lot of time in the past few months learning marketing on the internet so that I can generate a passive revenue stream and hopefully one day become influential. The thing that I have found is that there are so many different options that I had a tendency to get so much enjoyment from the learning aspect, especially the fact you are able to get quite enthusiastic about some products, and then not allow the time to actually implement the strategies you learned.
Also what I’ve found, and this is what scares a lot of people away in my opinion, is that there are a few ’snake-oil salesmen’ in the industry who are not genuine and are simply selling products that no longer work. In actuality there are plenty of them, but it is fairly obvious that they aren’t still working their systems when they fail to show you up to date records of their current accounts and they spend all of their time selling you on their program and none teaching you what actually worked for them recently.
Learning to market on the internet is a worthy goal for many reasons. It is not location dependent, it can be done part-time while still working your normal job and it can teach you what I have found offline as well as online, that finding a market makes a lot more sense as a first step than producing a product. Understand that I have had a number of businesses and this is one of my first online.
There are a number of ways you can get people to buy, but the more important thing is to ensure they come back and that can only be achieved by giving value for money and value for time. I base this understanding on my own experience as well as in the businesses I have owned and worked for including large corporates with over 100k staff globally. I am also a software engineer and have a background working with eCommerce websites selling physical products and services. These skills help me to create sites but do nothing to teach me how to Market On The Internet, that is the role of this site to give you the resources to choose the best mentors you can. And to encourage you to come along to the events and network with other people in the industry. I can assure you that is one of the most fulfilling aspects of this business.
To your success

As far as internet marketing seminars go, this is truly one of the best. The top notch line up includes Corey Rudl’s protege Sean Roach and is promoted by two top quality people, Brett McFall and Tom Hua, both of whom I have met personally. The World Internet Summit is now in it’s fifth year and the quality of the speakers and the event is truly amazing.
Here are just some of the speakers at the Atlanta Internet Marketing Conference:
and many more…
One of the most important reasons for attending an event in person is the connections that you make. I personally have met some wonderful people at the conference in New Zealand. Without these connections this blog would itself have not been possible. If you’re interested to find out more about me you can look at the about page on this blog or Google for me, Michael Smale.
