Internet Marketing

This tutorial gives an overview of Internet Marketing and explains what it is, how it works and the opportunity it presents for entrepreneurs.

Internet Marketing is simply the application of marketing, a process which has existed since the dawn of civilization, to the Internet.  Accordingly I will begin this tutorial by first covering: what marketing is, how it has developed over time and how it exists today, before delving further in to describe the more specific term ‘Internet Marketing’.

Probably the simplest analog for marketing is the ancient bazaar, or the local farmers markets, that still exist today.  Take a moment to imagine the process of bring a product to market from the perspective of the trader.  Each of the steps to bring goods for sale to the farmers market, including selling them for a reasonable profit, are incorporated in the standard modern marketing process.

The standard marketing process has four considerations called the four P’s of marketing.

  1. Product – selection of the product (or service) to produce
  2. Place – selection of the place from which to market the product
  3. Price – the price that will be asked for the product
  4. Promotion – the advertising and merchandising that will be used to entice customers

Thus the more narrow term Internet Marketing is simply the application of marketing processes to the production and sale of goods and services over the Internet.

Perhaps because the Internet is a new technology where traditional marketing had no experience until recently, there are a large number of Internet marketers who have setup to teach others their methodologies, however the motives and authenticity of these marketers varies widely.

This site was established to provide a platform for independent reviews to help out the best value trainers and training so you too can become a successful Internet Marketer.

Much like the four P’s of marketing, Internet Marketing and Internet Marketers use a formula including some of each of the following aspects that contribute to an Internet Marketer’s arsenal:

  1. Email – not just sending email, but having a great offer that builds your list in the first place
  2. Pay-Per-Click Advertising – instant traffic for nominal cost
  3. Search Engine Optimization – the Holy Grail of Internet Marketing, massive numbers, free traffic
  4. Social Media – an emerging traffic source outside the usual website advertising models, especially Twitter & Facebook
  5. Affiliate Marketing – attracting and managing an army of commission only agent for your products
  6. Offline Promotion – on the cusp of Internet Marketing and traditional Marketing.  The use of newspapers, radio and television for the promotion of online activities, promotions, products etc.

You will find more information about each of these types of marketing on other Tutorial pages on this website in the weeks and months to come.
